MEET THE TEACHER/CURRICULUM NIGHT

We look forward to seeing as many parents/caregivers as possible at our “Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night” on Thursday October 2nd, 6:00-7:00pm.  Please plan to drop by at any point during this time to see the classroom and meet your child’s teacher. The flier is attached again as a reminder.

PIZZA DAY

A reminder to everyone that our first Pizza Day for this school year is coming up this Wednesday – October 1st.  All students who ordered and paid for pizza will get what they ordered on Wednesday at lunchtime.  Students in Grades 1 – 6 eat their pizza in the gym and for Kindergarten students the pizza will be delivered to their classrooms. Occasionally there are a few pizza slices that are extra at the end, and these slices can be purchased by students for $2.00 per slice.  Please make sure however that any child planning to buy extra slices also has a lunch they can eat that day in case there aren’t any extra slices available.

LOST AND FOUND

Already this year there are several items in Lost and Found – please everyone remember to check Lost and Found regularly. If we could please add – Lost and Found is intended for you to take ONLY items that belong to your child/ren.  It’s important that all items be given the chance to be found by their rightful owner. Please note – food containers are thrown out regularly!!  It doesn’t take long for the food in them to become disgusting, which is then smelly and attracts things we don’t want.  For that reason, all food containers that end up in Lost and Found are thrown out regularly – so please check Lost and Found if your child left their lunchbag at school.

WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

International Walk To School Day is happening this year on Wednesday October 8th, 2014. International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 and over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a chance to focus on various environmental issues as we look at options for travel to and from school. Why Walk? – It’s FUN! Healthier Habits! Cleaner Environment! Promoting Safety! Community Benefits!

ROAD SAFETY AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY

We would like to remind everyone with a car, that there is a clearly indicated “SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZONE” that must be kept clear for all the buses that either pick up, or drop off at our school.  Please DO NOT park your car in this area which is just south of sidewalk leading to the front doors and extending south all the way to the driveway into the parking lot. It is very possible that there could be multiple buses arriving at the same time to pick-up and drop off students so this whole area MUST be kept clear of other cars. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
