This Tuesday, June 24th, is when Huron is going to be having its “Right to Play” Day. In the morning we will run a mini program for our morning Kindergarten students and in the afternoon all students, Kindergarten to Grade 6 will participate. During this time all our students play games that are taught to children in developing countries by Right To Play volunteers. Huron students will be divided into country teams of mixed grades. These countries are all places where the charity works. We are encouraging all students to bring a Toonie ($2.00) to school on Tuesday. This money will be collected and donated to Right to Play Parents/caregivers, if you would like to volunteer to help out on Tuesday afternoon (or morning if you have a child in morning kindergarten) please just come to the school at about 12:30pm on Tuesday.
Right To Play is an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Working in both the humanitarian and development context, Right To Play builds local capacity by training community leaders as Coaches to deliver its programs in 20 countries affected by war, poverty, and disease in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. For more information about Right To Play please visit their website at: www.righttoplay.ca
(Please note – if the weather isn’t cooperating on Tuesday then the RAIN DATE for our “Right To Play” Day will be Thursday June 26th.)
This is it – the absolute LAST WEEK for you to collect any Lost and Found items. There are two tables in the hallway piled high with Lost and Found items, as well the Lost and Found structure in the front foyer is also filled with stuff. Don’t forget that all items in Lost and Found will be donated to charity immediately after school finishes (on Monday June 30th) so make sure everything that belongs to you is collected before the last day of school.
** COBS THE ANNEX – FUNDRAISER **
One week left in our fundraising partnership with COBS The Annex. COBS The Annex (370 Bloor Street West) is delighted to offer Huron Street Public School the opportunity to participate in their Dough Raiser program where they help raise money for our school to purchase Huron Street Public School Athletic Jerseys.
HOW IT WORKS: Each time you purchase a product at COBS The Annex (370 Bloor Street West), mention you’re raising dough for Huron Street Public School, and a COBS staff will process a 25% donation of the total sale back to HURON STREET PUBLIC SCHOOL.
