Winter Concert DVDs

A huge THANK YOU again to John (one of our parents) for all his time and effort in videotaping our concert in December.  Ms. Hanson and Ms. Howe have both previewed the DVD and it is FANTASTIC!

DVDs of the December 2013 Huron Winter Concert can be made available for sale.  Copies can be purchased for $7.  This will cover reproduction costs, materials and make a tiny profit for the music program.  Please email Ms. Hanson directly so she has a rough idea how many DVDs this ‘first run’ should be.

Kindergarten Registration

It’s Kindergarten Registration time again and we would love your help in spreading the word within our local community.
We are going to be having our Kindergarten Registration Day on Wednesday February 12th, 2014.  Children born in 2010 should be registering for Junior Kindergarten starting in 2014 (and if not already in school, children born in 2009 can register for Senior Kindergarten).
At this point in time (and on February 12th) we will be registering ONLY children who are IN DISTRICT for Huron.
We are strongly encouraging out of district families who would like to have their children attend Huron to make sure we get the completed Optional Attendance form by the deadline of February 14th, 2014.
Although families who are in district can register their children at any time, we are really hoping to get as many families registered on February 12th as possible. It is especially important this year because (later on in February) we will be surveying registered families and asking about their interest in the Before and After School Care Program.  We want as many families as possible responding to this survey as the results at this time will determine if we have the program here or not.
Attached to this email is a flier with more information.  If you can think of somewhere in the community that would be willing to put up a copy of the flier we’d love it if you would ask!  Please feel free to come into the school office and pick up a few hard copies (which we’ve copied on bright, colourful paper) and let’s get the word out there!
If anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to call us at 416-393-1570.

Public Health and Immunization

All students attending school in Toronto must have a complete immunization record on file with Toronto Public Health – and at this time we know that several families have received a letter from Public Health indicating that they require information from you.

It could be that this letter is indicating that your child needs a booster shot of one of the necessary immunizations in which case you need to take your child (and the letter you received) to the doctor, have this booster shot given and have your doctor complete the form that Public Health sent you.
If the form you received indicates that there is no information on file please make a copy of your child’s yellow immunization card and send that information to Toronto Public Health.
As the letter you received should indicate, there are three (3) ways you can report your information to Toronto Public Health:
1) Report online: www.toronto.ca/immunization
2) Fax: 416-338-2487
3) Mail: Toronto Public Health – Immunization, 235 Danforth Ave., 2nd Floor,       Toronto, ON, M4K 1N2
If you do not have easy access to a photocopier or fax machine please feel free to bring your documents into the school and we would be happy to photocopy them and fax them to Toronto Public Health for you.
If you have any questions please call Toronto Public Health at 416-392-1250
