MAY the FOURTH be WITH YOU!!

Music Monday is coming. This annual celebration of music education in schools will take place this year on Monday May 4th. Celebrations all across Canada will be taking place, joining in song as we sing the new anthem ‘We Are One’, written by Connor Ross, a Performing Arts High School student in Bolton. The Huron celebration will take place in the big field, weather permitting, at 1:00pm (in the gym in the event of rain–or snow!!!) The lyrics and music are posted on the Music Room wiki at http://huronmusic.wikispaces.com/Music+Monday

You can also get more information about Music Monday at: www.musicmonday.ca

Please note the time change! Huron’s Music Monday celebration will take place at 1:00pm in the big field rather than at 11:10 in the morning. A significant number of band members are away on a class field trip in the morning, so this will allow them to be back in time to take part in the festivities. The celebrations will take place in the gym in the event of inclement weather.

We would like to introduce to you the new HURON WATER BOTTLE!! The water bottles are $15.00 each – payment can be cash or cheque made payable to “Huron Street Public School Council”. Thank you so much for supporting our new fundraising idea!

WARD 10 SPACE FORUM

Huron is still looking for a second person to attend the upcoming “Space Forum” for all Ward 10 schools. Please see the message below and the attached flier for more information.  There is one member of our School Council who is interested in attending and we are looking for a second person.

If you would like to attend please call the school at 416-393-1570 and let us know.

(Remember – do not reply to this email.  Your response will not be received.)

Dear Huron parent(s)/caregivers:
There are many questions about the future of the schools in our Ward.

The TDSB Ward 10 Space Committee, has worked with me to organize theSpace Forum, for Thursday April 30th, from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at Ryerson School, 96 Denison.

Child care is provided. Refreshments are served. Translation will be available on request.

The Manager of Planning for the TDSB, Andrew Gowdy, will be presenting and walking us through questions about school use.

We are requesting that each School Council confirm two representatives to attend the Forum to understand how use and utilization of schools is determined, and the different processes that the TDSB and the Ministry of Education use to review these spaces (eg. PART, ARC etc.) — and the implications for schools in our Ward. It is also a great opportunity to meet members from neighbouring School Councils.

Of course, the Space Forum is open to all who are interested. Please share!
Below is the flyer, which can also be downloaded here. And here is the Facebook invitation to join.

As always, feel free to be in touch with any questions.

With gratitude,

Ausma Malik
Trustee, TDSB Ward 10, Trinity-Spadina
