TAFELMUSIK FIELD TRIP
On Monday April 13, all pupils from grades 2 to 6 will be attending Tafelmusik’s presentation of The Quest for Arundo Donax at Trinity-St. Paul Center, just west of the Metro grocery store (427 Bloor Street West). We will have an early lunch and leave the school at about 12:05pm to get there in time to be seated for the 12:45pm concert start time. It’s free! Permission forms went home two weeks ago – and thank you very much to all parents/caregivers who have volunteered to come with us.

20 MINUTE MAKE-OVER
On Friday, April 17th, students from across the TDSB are encouraged to help rejuvenate Toronto’s green spaces by picking up litter in their school yard or neighbourhood parks. Huron students will be doing their part this Friday afternoon and all parents/caregivers are welcome to join us. The school will be providing all students will one vinyl glove that they can wear – however if your child has their own pair of gardening gloves (or any other alternative) that they could use instead please consider sending them to school on Friday and help us reduce the number of disposable gloves we will be using.
Please speak to your child’s teacher for specific information about when and where they will be cleaning.

LICE CHECK THIS WEEK
Our team of trained, parent volunteers has very generously volunteered to come in and help us do another school wide check of all students for pediculosis (lice). They are going to be doing the check sometime this week, likely on either Monday and/or Tuesday, April 13th and/or 14th, 2015. As you know, this is an excellent preventative measure and one that really helps a school community monitor, and limit as much as possible, this very common school occurrence. If you do not want your child to participate please send an email to: huronstreetpsjr@tdsb.on.ca or call the school at 416-393-1570.

CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
Each year, Ontarians mark the first full week of May as Children’s Mental Health Week. The week is about increasing awareness of the signs of child and youth mental health needs, decreasing stigma and understanding that help is available. This year, the TDSB has planned a Parent Symposium for Saturday May 9th; “Taking Action Together”. Please find attached a flier with more information about this Parent Symposium. A copy of this flier is also posted on the bulletin board across the hall from the Main Office.
